Associate Attorney: Estate Planning, Probate, and Business Matters Are you ready to do exceptional work with exceptional people? We are seeking an Associate Attorney to handle estate planning, trust and probate administration, and related business matters. This role is well suited for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates with clarity, and produces careful, high-quality legal work in a structured practice environment. Core Responsibilities:
Lead client consultations with clarity and sound judgment, helping clients understand options and make informed decisions Counsel clients on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and related business matters Draft estate planning documents and related legal materials with a high standard of accuracy and completeness Guide families through probate and trust administration, including court representation for probate, guardianships, andconservatorships when needed Manage client files, deadlines, documentation, and follow-through across multiple matters Stay current on estate, probate, and tax law developments relevant to client work
Required Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of client matters from start to finish Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust through clear, grounded client conversations Careful approach to legal drafting, documentation, and deadline management Comfort working in a fast-moving practice while maintaining quality and consistency Ability to balance client service, legal accuracy, and firm expectations for productivity
Other Requirements:
Active member of the Michigan Bar in good standing 2–5+ years of dedicated legal experience in estate planning, probate law, or business planning preferred Confidence in meeting firm-established minimum billing requirements while maintaining high-quality work About Coonen Law, PLLCWe're not your typical law firm.
