Contract IP Litigation - Attorney - Remote

About the Role: Handle sophisticated intellectual property disputes for firm clients. Work directly with clients and partners on active litigation matters. Immediately provide substantive support to an extremely busy litigation team. Take ownership of assigned matters with limited supervision.

Responsibilities: Immediately provide substantive support to an extremely busy litigation team. Take ownership of assigned matters with limited supervision. Take initial drafting responsibility for pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery motions, and pre-trial submissions. Handle matters in federal district court. Assist with matters before the TTAB and/or PTAB, where applicable. Participate in case strategy and planning. Manage discovery from beginning to end. Handle written discovery. Assist with ESI and document review strategy. Work with experts and assist with expert discovery. Take and defend fact depositions. Take and defend expert depositions. Argue discovery and substantive motions where appropriate. Assist with hearings and trial preparation. Communicate directly with partners and clients. Manage deadlines and competing priorities across active matters. Work independently and proactively identify what needs to be done. Provide immediate bandwidth while permanent associates are out on leave.

Qualifications: Must be admitted and in good standing in New York or admitted elsewhere and eligible for admission in NY.Must be available for full-time hours. Must be able to start ASAP.Must be able to commit to approximately 3–6 months. Technical degree is preferred for patent-focused candidates. USPTO registration is preferred for patent-focused candidates.

Required Skills: 5+ years of IP litigation experience. Substantial litigation experience in federal court. Federal judicial clerkship / experience working with a federal judge highly preferred. Strong legal research and writing skills. Experience drafting substantive federal court filings. Experience with pleadings and motion practice. Experience managing discovery. Experience taking and/or defending depositions. Ability to independently manage substantive litigation assignments. Strong attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly understand sophisticated legal and factual issues. Comfortable working directly with partners and clients. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
