General Superintendent

THE OPPORTUNITY: The General Superintendent will lead and coordinate multiple construction projects in collaboration with project management, construction site teams, trade partners and company leadership. Responsibilities will include establishing project assignments, schedules and responsibilities; organizing construction personnel; coordinating manpower and resources; and ensuring materials and equipment arrive when needed to maintain the project schedule. This position will have significant responsibility for hospital and healthcare packages, with an emphasis on safe, high-quality execution and predictable project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead multiple healthcare construction projects and provide technical expertise to project partners to ensure safe, high-quality execution. Direct, organize and coordinate construction personnel across multiple projects and trade groups. Develop project assignments, timetables, manpower plans and responsibilities for field teams. Establish and adjust work sequences to maintain construction schedules based on available manpower, equipment and resources. Manage, coach and develop direct reports while providing meaningful performance feedback and career development. Monitor field productivity and confirm earned value and the accuracy of forecasted percent completion. Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards and project requirements. Identify and eliminate construction and jobsite hazards while maintaining a strong safety culture. Apply LEAN and reliability principles, including pull planning, six-week look-ahead schedules, value mapping and constraint logs. Estimate worker-hour requirements and manpower needs to meet project schedules and budgets. Monitor field schedules and coordinate them with overall project schedules. Provide material takeoffs, estimates and pricing associated with changes in scope. Identify and resolve productivity issues, work interfaces, manpower challenges and schedule difficulties. Communicate potential problems, work interferences and schedule concerns to senior leadership and project management. Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering and other internal departments to ensure materials, equipment, inspections and technical resources support field activities. Conduct pre-job and ongoing planning meetings to ensure project teams understand contract requirements, schedules, unusual conditions and project expectations. Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers and internal project teams.
